Using Active Directory Sites and Services
To create a subnet, perform these steps:
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services (dssite.msc).
- In the left navigation pane, select the Subnets node.
- Right-click the node's name and select New Subnet… from the menu.
- Type the prefix for the subnet.
- Optionally, select an Active Directory site for the subnet, for example, 10.5.15.0/24.
- Click OK when done.
To delete a subnet, perform these steps:
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services (dssite.msc).
- In the left navigation pane, expand the Subnets node.
- Right-click the name of the subnet you want to delete and select Delete from the menu.
- In the Active Directory Domain Services popup, click Yes to answer the question Are you sure you want to delete the Subnet named 'Subnet'?.
To change the description of a subnet, perform these steps:
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services (dssite.msc).
- In the left navigation pane, select the subnet you want to manage.
- Right-click the subnet and select Properties from the menu.
- On the General tab, type a description for the Active Directory subnet.
- Press OK when done.
To change the site of a subnet, perform these steps:
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services (dssite.msc).
- In the left navigation pane, select the subnet you want to manage.
- Right-click the subnet and select Properties from the menu.
- Navigate to the Location tab.
- On the Location tab, type a location for the Active Directory subnet.
- Press OK when done.
To change the site of a subnet, perform these steps:
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services (dssite.msc).
- In the left navigation pane, select the subnet you want to manage.
- Right-click the subnet and select Properties from the menu.
- On the General tab, type the new network prefix for the Active Directory subnet.
- Press OK when done.
To change the location of a subnet, perform these steps:
- Open Active Directory Sites and Services (dssite.msc).
- In the left navigation pane, select the subnet you want to manage.
- Right-click the subnet and select Properties from the menu.
- On the General tab, from the drop-down list of Active Directory sites, select one of the existing Active Directory sites, or select the empty entry in the list to remove the subnet from any Active Directory site.
- Press OK when done.
