0.4 Research Significance

This study is quite different from the previous studies in that it views translation criticism as a special kind of evaluation. It is not based on any translation theory, but rather mainly on evaluation theories and axiology in general, and findings of epistemology are also borrowed.According to axiology, any social activity is valueoriented or value-driven; the activity of translation is therefore also value-creation.Criticism of a translation is on the one hand actually to judge its values and on the other hand, also to create value and for greater value. As evaluation theories in axiology can offer us a broader vision,we can expect a more comprehensive understanding about the nature and features of criticism of literary translation. It is hoped that such a study will benefit not only the practice of criticism of literary translation, but also the theoretical research of criticism of literary translation. It is also the authors' hope that this study will be a further step towards the establishment of the subject of translation criticism. That is to say,the current research potentially possesses both the theoretical and practical significance for the criticism of literary translation and for translation criticism as a whole.
